The Pomodoro Method
- Amateur sit and wait for inspiration, rest of us just get up and go to work
- Your future is created by what you do today, not tomorrow
- People often complain about time management when lack of direction is a problem
If you spend any time at all researching life hacks, you’ve probably heard of the famous Pomodoro Technique.
Created in the 1980s by Francesco Cirillo, the Pomodoro Technique is one of the more popular time management life hacks used today. But this method isn’t for everyone, and for every person who is a passionate adherent of the system, there is another person who is critical of the results.
Is the Pomodoro Technique right for you? It’s a matter of personal preference. But if you are curious about the benefits of using the technique, this article will break down the basic information you will need to decide if this technique is worth trying out.
The Pomodoro Technique is a time management philosophy that aims to provide the user with maximum focus and creative freshness, thereby allowing them to complete projects faster with less mental fatigue.
If you are like me, then you struggle A LOT to focus on one thing at a time. This is exactly why the Pomodoro Technique will be perfect for you. I don’t consider myself the best student, not even in the top of my class but I also don’t believe in comparing people, I’m more of an “everyone has different skillsets”, and “everyone can learn whatever they want if they put enough effort” kind of guy. Anyway, I’m already getting off-topic (just proving the point that I get distracted easily).
Steps:
- The task to be done.
- Set the Pomodoro.
- Work until it rings.
- Register your Pomodoro.
- Take a break.
- Set your timer. Work. Register. Repeat.
I started implementing this rule in my life while doing project work and courses. I set up tasks to be done and set Pomodoro after each task as a reward of the task. I divided the tasks into minor and major. After every minor task, there was a reward of chatting and talking with friends and beloved ones. After every major task, I set up a major reward for those tasks.
Difficulties:
I am a student who was living life with no scheduling and planning. I used to work when I want to do it. In the start, it was very difficult for me to do my work on time but gradually, it became my habit to do work on time for the sake of award and it really helped me a lot in changing my habit
Learn from the experience:
This activity helped me a lot in regularizing my life. I started dividing my tasks into junks and tried to accomplish these tasks on time. Promodore helped me a lot in appetizing my thirst to do work. I would highly suggest everyone apply it in their life
